ABOUT DEER WOMAN

Deer, or Deer Woman, is an insured circus variety performer, multi-prop instructor, and fire + aerial artist. Deer is located in Michigan where she serves the Metro-Detroit area. She currently works with Michigan Entertainment and Talent, Flames 'n' Dames, and Detroit Circus. Deer's prop manipulation and circus journey began in 2018 when she picked up a single hula hoop. Her love for flow and circus arts has since expanded to Russian fans, silk fans, leviwand, double staffs, dragon staff, and aerial arts (specializing in lyra).

In addition to performing, Deer is passionate about instructing and contributing to her local circus/flow community. She is currently a community organizer for Michigan Hoop Dance Retreat,  a founder and organizer of Flow and Grow Detroit, a brand ambassador for LiviJoyHoops (code: deerwoman), and has had the honor of instructing at various flow arts events. Some of Deer's accomplishments as an instructor include receiving her Hoop Love Coach certification, completing Abyssal Performance School's professional development course, facilitating mindful movement for Bright Futures (a local after-school program), creating and offering over 15 unique multi-prop workshops, and instructing with Michigan Hoop Dance Retreat, Great Lakes Flow Fest, Midwest Flow Fest, Flow and Grow Detroit, and Flowstorm Texas.

Outside of her passion for performance arts, Deer has a B.S. in Environmental Science and Sustainability from Eastern Michigan University, graduating cum laude and faculty-voted as the most outstanding student in her program. She has worked in animal welfare for 6 years. She has used her education to be a sustainability manager for Michigan Hoop Dance Retreat and a financial manager for Flow and Grow Detroit.
